The Table I’m Setting

Tone: Poetic, reflective, grounded
Goal: Connection + storytelling authority + invitation to belong

I make short films about food-and the folklore behind it.

Intro Paragraph (poetic + personal):

Each week, I craft a story told in steam, texture and voice, one part history, one part recipe, all of it immersive.

You won’t find trends here. Just tales worth tasting.

✨ Why I Do This

I’m a storyteller, a food lover, and a mother of four who often cooks between soccer games and bedtime stories. But somewhere between the mess and the meal, I found this rhythm—slowing down, making space, telling stories that connect us to something older, wilder, and more beautiful.

I started A Taste and a Tale to bring reverence back to food—to remind myself (and maybe you, too) that even a cracked fig or a loaf of bread can carry a legacy.

“Some stories are meant to be eaten.”

🥣 3. What You’ll Find Here

Here’s What You’ll Find in This Space

  • Tales:
Cinematic, voiceover stories that pull you into a moment in food history—strange, beautiful, or forgotten.
  • Tastes:
One recipe each week, inspired by that tale. Nothing trendy. Nothing loud. Just food with meaning.
  • Rituals:
Slow living, styled moments, and quiet ways to honor what’s on your table.

You don’t have to be a cook. Just curious.

🎨 Visual Suggestions:

  • Use soft icons or hand-drawn visuals to match each item
  • Add photos as subtle backgrounds behind each word if you want texture

Meet Mattie K

Who’s Behind the Table

I’m Mattie—a writer, photographer, former interior design student, and deeply curious human. I live in Northern Utah with my husband and four kids, where I balance story-chasing with real-life dinner messes.

I created A Taste and a Tale as an invitation to slow down, feel something, and maybe even remember something you didn’t know you forgot.

I believe beauty is a form of rebellion. So is stillness.

🎨 Visual Suggestions:

  • Black & white photo or softly lit portrait of you with camera/food/notebook
  • Use handwritten font for your name/signature under the bio
  • Optional section title: “Hi, I’m Mattie.”
